Most other competitors that report to allow self-rostering have got the process a little wrong. I email everyone on the rota and they login and people self-allocate their shifts, but with other systems I would have to ‘ok’ each one of those requests and when you’re looking at almost 2000 shifts every two months, that’s just not possible. The fact that HealthRota almost “crowdsources” this part of it, makes things really quite simple.
Being able to see who is/will be in the working team alongside me for a given shift/shifts is helpful for fostering a team atmosphere in the absence of true “firms” and contributes to wellbeing.
Excellent system. I found it very helpful for allocating the department juniors appropriately. As a consultant, it’s great to be able to document our session time and being an app, it’s accessible from anywhere.
I was able to ensure I had my wedding off this year! If I had not been able to do this, I would have had to locum for a year as I couldn’t guarantee the time off in any other job.

I like that there is a large amount of functionality under one platform. As a Rota Coordinator, this helps me do everything I need to in one place. Authorising leave, flagging shifts to fill and more involved processes like generating templates for rotations is all easy to do. I have used other rostering platforms in the past and find HealthRota more adaptable to my needs and simple to use.
I think it’s great – especially because you can choose the weekends you’d rather not work because of other commitments.
I enjoyed the flexibility that the HealthRota app provided. For the first time in my career was i able to have annual leave when i wanted it without complex rota swaps. It definitely made my working life better!
We like the flexibility of being able to create and amend rotas as required. We had an intern when we went live who is now a member of our team – she could not comprehend how rotas were managed on Word documents and all our team can now create rotas from scratch. The ability to roll out the rotational rotas on a template is excellent.
It’s amazing the difference self-rostering can do to both staff morale and burnout. With the survey we did, registrars are happier. Happier staff mean better care for patients.
We’ve noticed a massive decrease in sickness on the registrar rota, because people are just more flexible. There’s more flexibility on the rota, which is great. We’ve also had a big impact on cost.
HealthRota meant I was able to have a great work- life balance, got the time off for study/annual leave when I needed it and protected me from inevitable burnout. I would recommend HealthRota to any future trusts I work in – it is a huge asset to a Trust, and particularly to the Emergency Department.
